The Yellow classes talked about city life in their ESL lesson. They looked at the flashcards and tried to spell the matching vocabulary words.During circle time, the Blue class reviewed the days of the week. Their teacher flipped through the cards and they tried to name the day as quickly as they could!The children reviewed the single letter phonics as a class. They sounded out the card and the word that goes with each one.The Orange class learned about routines today and reviewed some of the things that we do on a daily basis. They played flashcard games to help them remember the different phrases.To open circle time, the preschool classes sang the “Hello Song” and followed along with all of the actions.After their tea break, the Chicks class enjoyed looking at picture books. They really enjoy books about transportation and animals.While the children were playing outside, they really enjoyed climbing up the tree house. They raced their friends to the top, and then went down the big yellow slide.The ride on toys were also popular. They enjoyed interacting with their friends and using their gross motor skills!For the Word Time lesson, the children continued to practice the concepts of “wet” and “dry”. They washed their hands in the sink to learn the word “wet” and then used their towels to learn the word “dry”.The Yellow class read “A Box Full of Light” to help review their phonics and comprehension skills.Once the Yellow class finished their storybook, they tried to memorize a line from it, and re-write it correctly in their journals.During the writing lesson, the Red class reviewed the “magic c” to help them write the letter “d”.The Advanced classes continued to practice their new song today: “Right Here, Right Now” from the popular movie “High School Musical”.To celebrate Tanabata, the children wrote their wishes down on a wish card. They talked about the meaning of the holiday, as well as the future that they would like to have.Once they had written down their wishes, the children went down to the entrance to add their wishes to the school bamboo tree.One of today’s Kid’s Box book lessons focused on types of homes. The children learned the differences between apartments, houses, tree houses and boat homes.The children practiced their fine motor skills with this week’s rainbow fish craft. They cut tissue paper to make scales and glued them on to make a cool design.At the Takatasuki school, the children learned the differences between polite and rude. They did role playing with their friends to help understand positive pro-social skills.
