For craft today, the preschool classes made Halloween skeletons. They cut the heads with little assistance and used cotton swabs to make their bodies! During writing time, the Advanced Orange and Purple classes wrote about illnesses. They practiced using the target language from previous ESL lessons to improve their writing skills. The Advanced Yellow class discussed common English greetings in the reading and writing period. They wrote letters and made cards for writing practice. In music time with Eri, the children sang “Milk” by Makihara Noriyuki. The Red class talked about places in their circle time. They had a discussion about what we see and do at each place. The Red class wrote about clothing and prepositions. They talked about where each item was and created sentences in their journals. The preschool classes reviewed colors in their circle time. They practiced patterning with blocks and had to match colors in small group. The Math and Numbers lesson taught the children about shapes and patterns. They used geometric shapes and math mats to play a matching game. The children had a lot of fun playing dodgeball again this week in gym time! The Orange class practiced their weekly vocabulary using spelling games. The children were shown an image and had to sound out and spell each word. The Red class practiced the letter “j” in their writing books today. The Word Time lesson focused on the words “number” and “two”. The children used their bodies to count all of the body parts that we have two of! The preschool classes learned all about verbs today. They used their bodies to do actions and demonstrate each card. The Yellow class read “A Box Full of Light” to help them practice the “igh/i-e/ie/i” sound. They used their journals to make sentences about what they read in the story.
